Wind Weather Station Instruments
|
Stormy weather has a way of sneaking up on us when we’re not prepared!
.
That’s why everyone needs a weather station. |
I remember by dad was always watching the barometer, and of course, today we have the Weather Channel on TV to tell us what the weather is doing. But, still a weather barometer is a fascinating object and should be in every household. One never knows when the power will go out due to bad weather.
Weather stations have been upgraded over the years and are now mostly digital. Prices range from around $20 upwards to $150.
Weather stations also come with desk clocks and sports logos on them,
making a weather station a nice gift for the sports fan.
I think just about every sporting team is represented at the company who offers the weather station shown here. (Click the image for details and to browse their site.)
I received a really nice wireless weather station a couple of years ago as a gift. It includes indoor and outdoor temperature which I have mounted on the wall by my desk. I look at it everyday!! I like to know the temperature outside.
Weather instruments include thermometers, rain and snow gauges, weather radios and weather vanes… all designed to help us determine the weather patterns for our areas.
Thermometers used to be very simple. Today they are whimsical as well as traditional.
My favorite weather instrument, however, is the weather vane because they come in so many variations and for any decor. I don’t have one on my roof, yet. But I hope to have one someday.
Weather vanes fascinate me. The principle of a weather vane is to tell you which way the wind is blowing. But of course, just step outside and you’ll find out. But… a weather vane gives class to a house or barn!!
The weather vane of the past dates back to B.C. Thereafter, churches sported rooster weather vanes depicting the story of Peter who denied Christ three times before the cock crowed.
Today’s weather vanes are usually found over barns and garage gables. You can find novelty weather vanes such as a fish, witch, horse, cow, airplane, bird, pig, ship, boat, duck, car, indian, etc.
If you want to dress up your house or make a statement to your neighbors, install a weather vane. Some examples below:
