Porch Glider – Patio Glider
|
I love my glider furniture!
It is so relaxing to sit outside and wile the time away in my patio glider chair or my wrought iron garden glider bench! |
I‘ve had my wooden cedar gliders for over 10 years, and although they’ve weathered over time, they are so comfortable I would hate to have anything happen to them.
My wooden gliders are heavy enough to withstand any stormy weather. They look really natural in my wooded lot.

And, even though my gliders are perfectly comfortable "as is", occasionally I’ll buy some cushions for the summer, just to dress them up a bit with a festive look… (…Like when mother-in-law came to visit!)

Glider chairs have a mechanism that allows the chair to move back and forth in a gentle horizontal motion, rather than with an arcing motion, which is typical of conventional curved rocking chairs.
Since they sit flat on the floor, porch and patio gliders may be more stable and less likely to rock back or tip over accidentally. Two of my own gliders are tucked back into my woods and are very stable on the slightly uneven ground because I can dig the runner into the dirt.
When purchasing a glider, consider your needs, both location-wise and financially. A glider can be either a single chair or double bench seat, such as a ‘loveseat’. They come in metal, wicker, resin, aluminum, as well as wood. And, gliders also come as high-backs, low-backs, or no backs at all (an ottoman).
Porch gliders are available in many styles, different materials, and many colors.
